Luke @ Clay Rd 2

It was a bit of a surprise when Luke turned up at Clay on Sunday to race at round 2 of the championships and help support Veneno novice Jamie.

With his 2015 Project One race kart and race engine still in the workshop being prepped for the opening S1 round, Luke had missed the Saturday practice and had to turn out on his old 2011 chassis and spare engine without any onboard data. Despite this, Luke was soon showing his front running pace and silky smooth driving skills that he's been honing since the end of last season.

With a 3rd, 15th and a 2nd (later pushed back to 7th after scale inaccuracies) Luke was right on front running pace and lined up P12 in the final. From the opening lap his only movement was forward and he was soon cutting through the pack and up to 4th behind the lead IAME kart. Luke then got stuck in a battle with the IAME for a few laps before the IAME punted them both off at the esses in a mis-timed move. With just a few laps to go, Luke rejoined in 12th and fought back to 7th over the line. Disappointing as he could have easily been on the podium but considering the lack of data, old equipment and no practice he did extremely well.

One thing he hasn't lost though is the team photobombing title as this pout demonstrates!
