Holly @ CKC - Training Report
Having been working with the team since the summer Holly has been the driver in waiting for some time, formerly a Bambino and Easykart racer she has recently passed her ARKS and is simply waiting for her 8th birthday so she can race at CKC in January, during that time she has been racing in IKR and 1-2-1 sessions with the team as part of her ongoing development.
Turning up with James at CKC the plan was a simple one, work with James o get the line sorted and get the speed up so we can be competitive at the first meeting, Holly is a headstrong individual and this helps as her feedback tends to be very good, although possibly not first thing in the morning until breakfast has kicked in! Like James she is happy to follow instructions to the word and certainly this showed as Holly and James cleared off into the Surrey woodland nose to tail, we were simply keen to get her racing and making solid decisions on track plus a weak turn-in needed sorting as we were losing pace coming down the hill, watching the two on track was an indication of the future, Holly has no problem in placing the kart in a gap and James and a fair few others learnt very quickly, it would be fair to say that Holly was able to pass drivers who already have a year’s racing under their belt and recent IKR performances reflect this fact.
The day progressed well, Holly did everything that was asked as did the mechanic(dad) and after testing was with James the quickest on the track, our first full time female racer has arrived and the boys need to be very aware that she is not out to have a ‘nice’ day.
We had a quick chatter about leaving the grid and climbing over teammates karts but it wasn’t a sole fault of hers and no major issue, she’s a quick racer and a sure bet for podiums very quickly, the potential of having James and Holly racing for the team at CKC, Forest and Clay is very exciting, watch out for the glitter kart, its coming to a circuit near you soon.
Well done Holly
