Luke @ ABKC 'O' Plate Rowrah
Luke travelled to Rowrah this weekend for the ABKC 'O' plate as part of his ongoing preparations for this years S1 season. This was Luke's first visit to the track but he soon got to grips with this challenging circuit. Saturday saw timed qualification and even though he was up against a number of experienced S1 and local drivers, Luke qualified a very credible 11th overall. During Sunday's heats Luke was again showing his front running pace but with a large and frenetic pack, he was 'assisted' off and didn't see the results his performance deserved. Lining up 20th overall in the final Luke was on a charge. From the first lap he was making up places and became embroiled in a battle for 12th to 16th position. Lap after lap of the 15minute time limit saw the positions constantly change with mere tenths between the karts. The battling allowed the top 10 to break away by 5 seconds but Luke continued to battle to the flag, rising as high as 12th and falling to 17th before crossing the line in 14th just a few tenths off the leading pace. It was a great result considering all that had gone against him during the heats and he is looking forward to using this experience when S1 visits Rowrah for the opening round next week.
