Luke @ Rowrah S1 Rd 1

Hot off the heels of the ABKC 'O' plate, Luke and Russ were back at the Cumbrian circuit for the opening round of the 2015 S1 championship.

All through practice, Luke was using his recent experience to hone his lines and chip tenths off his lap times. However a bad batch of control fuel caused havoc amongst the field and saw Luke qualify down in 24th during TQ on Saturday.

On Sunday, Luke was up for the challenge and had to battle through an extremely experienced grid in each of the heats. A great drive in Final 1 saw Luke cross the line in P13 giving him that starting position in final 2.

Final 2 was tense and being in the middle of the pack was going to be tough. Soon after the start, Luke was barged out wide into the hairpin dropping back to 23rd. With the field so tight it was a big task to make his way back through, but with less than 15minutes to go he chased hard. Luke was in the 2nd pack where P12-P20 were split by tenths. His lap times were only a couple of tenths off the leaders but with the close racing Luke bounced up as high as 15th and back to 21st, eventually crossing the line in P20. A subsequent DSQ from Reeve for refusing to be scruiteneered saw Luke promoted to P19 at the end of the day.

A tough start to the S1 season, but one where this rookie driver showed he has the talent and speed to mix it at the front - just need a little more luck next time!
