Harry Arthur and Will Attreed @ Bayford F6 Round 2
This was Harrys and Wills 2nd outing to Bayford with both lads only really seeing the Sittingbourne based circuit in the damp or fully wet in Wills case, Harry and Will were taken on the first track walk in the morning by Ethan Perry (2014 F6 Open Champion) and the teams resident survival expert Connor.
With Round 2 being on Dylan’s turf Harry was always going to have to work hard to grab this one away from his eager and very able rival and admitted that some tidying was going to have to be done in some areas, Will was simply eager to go racing and his novice battle with Jacob was looking exciting with both boys needing to lean lines and develop confidence.
With H1 going to Harry by a close margin and H2 going to Dylan by a similar sized whisker this was as predicted going to go down to the wire, luckily with Harry putting in the beat Qualifying time at the beginning of the day by 500 ths! (you begin to realise how close they are) Harry managed to get the pole start for the final.
Will had H1 3rd, H2 4th and H3 3rd. his H2 finish was down to a puncture on turn 1 where he caught both Dylan and
Harry by surprise but misjudged his positioning and had a minor run in with one of the other lads plastic, no harm done and he got some great track time in.
The final was a nervous affair with two distinct battles, Harry and Dylan, Will and Jacob around 2 secs a lap behind but the latter closing the margins on the other boys. Harry stayed in front for the first 6 laps but never got rid of a tenacious Dylan who was not going to let Harry have round 2, when Dylan made the pass following Harry dropping a little wide he capitalised on Harrys error and grabbed a large gap which was enough to leave Harry settling for a 2nd place after he pushed too hard in several places on tyres which have seen a fair few meetings. Will drove smoothly to 3rd and the cadet trophy, Jacob grabbed best novice, and a very well deserving Dylan stood on top of the podium for 1st overall and 1st Open.
Yes a small grid, but these lads are having a great time and are getting some top experience at some full on circuits – well done all, onward to “Bucky”
