Will @ Shennington

Wills 2nd weekend at the Oxfordshire track was always going to be a learning affair and Will stepped up to the job with every Saturday test showing increased speed until he closed the day improving on his PB by 1 sec. With the track dry and warm the lads only had to deal with losing a small amount of grip to balance the kart and having nailed that the days word was most certainly “progress”

Race day saw Will bolt “Sabre” on and the practice saw him quickly realise that this was a day for racing with the pack and enjoying the competition. Heat 1 produced a rather tidy 10th place with Will now lapping mid order and maintaining his position, sadly we failed to start H2 as a warm up lap incident damaged the “D” bar which stopped the brake being applied with any effectiveness, Will discovered this problem at the main hairpin and parked it perfectly in the tyres next to an access gate which conveniently was next to our pit space…..all handy stuff eh!

Heat 3 saw a steady race in the back 5 but it was obvious that the brake incident had knocked Wills confidence on the graph and whilst trying hard was losing around .7 over previous sessions.

The final saw Will start 15th and pick up 1 place to drive home a consistent but slightly off the pace 14th.

This was a great weekend for Will, great learning for everyone involved and a demonstration that just one small moment despite not being your fault can just knock the day for six!

Well done Will, we are on the pace and ready to get stuck in next time.
