Kris passes his Arks test @ Clay

The weather could not have been better for Kristian to do his ARKS at Clay Pigeon yesterday.

Kris has done around 4 hours of testing with the team at Clay before the test and despite his previous consistent 43's the day started nervously with 45's and 46's.

Driving on the line it was a simple case of just pushing the throttle a bit harder through the corners but his concerns over the process were a little too much to bear.

Lee Rennison who conducts the ARKS for the team in that area came over to chat with Kris and reassured him that if he carried on driving as well as he had been he just needed to push a little harder and he would be fine, the Dorset circuit lends itself to being a great training base and very easy in the early stages to grab the extra time needed.

Of course up until this point I had been using Kris to run in ond of Dartford Racing Engines new motors "Cobra" but having Sabre sat in the box was a convenient way of helping the "placebo" effect and Kris duly dissapeared off down the track near 3 secs quicker!

Having passed his ARKS Kris relaxed and promptly continued his training by overtaking every available corporate machine in sight, with new vigour new fastest laps came and also more effective throttle control.

Well done Kris, welcome to the greatest journey

Next up are James and Henry......heads down lads!

NB: If you are considering taking your ARKS test, make sure you test in a kart relevant to your intended class, it is a shame to hear of a new novice appearing in a minimax straight after a Honda test, the comparison I heard is simple "its like getting out of a 1.0 Polo and jumping into a GT3...if you wish to ruin any chance of a Formula One Championship that is exactly how to do it!

Information and guidance on ARKS tests is available from the teams regular training circuits at:-

Camberley Kart Club - Lee Cobb

Clay Pigeon Raceway - Lee Rennison
