James, Charlie & Ethan @ CKC

This was the day that Ethan Perry dusted off the race kit and joined us to shake down Jamie Burt’s new kart after its rebuild, Ethan was there to also help James improve on his lap times as he progresses toward his ARKS test, the team was also delighted to see Charlie with his Bambino representing the Vipers.

James turned out really positive and had a solid target of 36 sec laps following his arrival in the 39’s last time out, a track walk with some great honest discussion and plenty of laughter got James thinking about the “bus stop” which has been his “nemesis” for the last two visits.

With Ethan joining him for the first couple of sessions James managed to set himself up for a continued improvement through the day, Ethan driving an unknown T1 motor and a really strong 2010 chassis found himself being invited back into the experienced sessions and after ensuring the James was happy to roll solo he went off to play with the club’s top gun.

With respect to Ethan who has no need to prove himself on track, we spent the rest of the day watching him posting highly competitive times wondering how on earth he was doing it, glad to be back in the mix Ethan reported the kart as having a great feel and asked how long the tyres would hold out, this was a topic of discussion as well seeing as two of the tyres had been propping up an umbrella for the last two years! James was also now having a productive time and had been joined on the grid by Charlie who was enjoying the benefits of his new Centaur, Charlie had his best day out since he started and his dad made a point of commending the club at Camberley for its operation and friendliness toward the younger drivers.

A last minute visor failure saw James and Ethan swap helmets in the last session - James reported that the 'Reaper' had done its job and made him faster!

With Ethan finishing the day leading the experienced pack and pulling away, James in the very early 37’s and Charlie beating up novice Hondas the team left the historic Surrey circuit satisfied that a job had been done.

A great day for the lads in the sun with plenty of laughter and agreement on a new award to be created by the team……watch out for the Dads “moment” trophy to be launched soon.

Well done boys great job
