Will & Jamie @ Clay Pigeon

Test day on the Saturday was, despite the forecast, a dry stage and Jamie managed to put down some solid laps across the sessions, with his focus now on a couple of areas in particular he was ready for the Sunday raceday especially with the predicted rain.

Wills test day was a little disappointing for him suffering a number of technical issues but did show he is still working hard to achieve and was positive and looking forward to the Sunday.

Race day

With the rain starting just after seven the boys were content to go racing in the rain despite Wills lack of wet suit! Jamie has always driven well at the Dorset circuit when the rain lets go and Will has proved before he can drive well in the puddles, with or without wetsuits the lads were ready to have a good day if possible and the practice session showed both lads in the mix with good damp setups.

The heats were a rapid affair, with only six classes racing so no sooner did you get back then you were off to the “dummy” again, a number of changes made during one of these short spells managed to compromise Jamie’s pace which was 3 tenths away from our prediction so we were middle order and with Will suffering from an unknown power loss the day was looking a little “lack lustre”

Will was pushing hard but running round in the back 4 generally, his efforts did not go unnoticed and while being held back by an unknown issue managed to keep the others nearby even if he couldn’t take the battle to them.

Jamie is developing well and no longer looks over his shoulder to give way, he proved in H1 that he can maintain P3 when needed and despite being “assisted” from his line three times during the day (twice by the same driver who then also went on to remove Will in the final!) he is showing a strong level of consistency that will prove a benefit in the coming seasons, Will is a great character and has a tenacious spirit that will help him rise above those days when it just simply didn’t work out! We have not yet seen Will at his full potential but I suspect it is not going to be too long before we find him moving along the grid.

Thanks go out to Attaq for the facilities and atmosphere at Clay in particular on the Saturday, Max and Alex were a great help on the Saturday, also Matt and Ethan at CKC who ran the show superbly with Des taking it easy whilst he endures a spell of being under the weather.

Onward to F6 we go!
