Half Term Team Testing @ Clay

Clay Pigeon with its ease of access saw the team test for three days. Originally we had planned for the four days but the wind and rain on day 3 saw Jack Clements heading off to the motor museum instead of dealing with the harsh weather but with Jack not planning to race at Clay in the future it was not deemed a real loss.

Jamie’s test saw him return to form and to the very early 41’s which following the last round was a blessing, the day being a dry affair was a consistent test and orientated around a few issues with track position, with very few other Hondas there we managed to get around 160 laps in over the sessions and left with a positive attitude toward the remaining round, this has been a great 1st year for Jamie and 2016 will see him regularly in the top 8 at the Dorset club.

Test 2 and the team saw Jayden come down from Shenington to spend time on basic development, with Luke and Alex Preston, Guy Cunnington, Henry and Will Forber plus Toby working on various tests for the team as well it was a dry busy day again, a surprise visit by Ethan who turned out to help Toby run in a couple of Iame motors made the day a great social occasion as well. Jayden made a great leap forward constantly gaining time and with just the usual weak spots to refine he finished up with some solid consistent times and a hoard of new friends. Toby climbed into his first Honda session and instantly latched onto to a pace setting Luke now enjoying some coaching from British number 3 Guy Cunnington, Henry and Will were putting down some solid times and for the greater part of the morning were the quickest out there due a strong T1 setup aligned with a damp surface that was causing a few problems.

Quietly beavering away in the background of course was Alex, due to take his ARKS soon Alex was continuing a strong development and is showing a good ability, when Alex starts with us in 2016 we have no doubt he will deliver just like his bro!

Ethan spent the entire day with a huge grin and some strong laps which was great to see from the teams 2014 F6 Open Champion. Thi wa Ethan' 1st time in a IAME 2 stroke and his first drive at clay for over a year, but wa quickly on the pace of the regular driver. Luke as always got a little quicker on his new chassis and the team left Clay having achieved a lot of individual successes but a lot of new friends.

Day 3 saw Jack and Dad enjoy a coffee then leave for the New Forest as the driving wind and rain left no room for development, a visit to Forest and Bayford was arranged for Days 5 and 6 and Jack left disappointed but happy to be dry.

Day 4 and James arrived for his first time at Clay, developing well now James has an infectious character and as we sat under the Attaq Motorsport awning he entertained the Rotax drivers and parents for the duration of his test. This turned out to be our best test yet for James and was a significant move in development, a liking for the Dorset circuit saw him pushing hard and really getting into the groove and for a short period of time was quickest on the track until the surface came back to the bigger classes. Driving with a great focus James has proven that he has the ability to go racing now so this is a simple case of commitment but the times are closing in on a pace that he can take to the race meetings and enjoy the tussle.

Day 5 and we met up with Jack at Forest for a short day of testing, with Attaq putting Sean Cuss through his ARKS the team were able to help where needed as well as give Jack a taste for the Barton Stacey circuit, Jack’s first day at Forest saw times level with the race day latter field and that was an immense achievement from a lad who is learning his sport at an astonishing pace, Jack will be seen regularly next year at various circuits and certainly is one to look out for.

Jack continued his training charge at Bayford on the Sunday and concluded the day a few seconds off but catching rapidly, with the team running at Bayford and Buckmore in 2016 when possible Jack is going to be a key part of the game in the South East.
