Jack, James, Harry, Henry & Jonathon @ CKC

With Jack and James booked for the routine test day and Harry on a chassis shakedown we were hopeful for a dry day following the last several team outings, we were also joined by two of our vipers and Jamie who is working hard with his Honda to be ready for the 2016 summer series.

As we waited for the gates to open at 0745 with the snow falling around us, the feeling for the test was looking a little less optimistic than 24 hours previous but we setup the spaces and thankfully the snow abated and the cold air was the only potential battle.

James has proved in the last two sessions that he is homing in more on his consistency and while he has plenty of speed in his “pocket” we are still building confidence, today was going to be a further session using the radios to keep pushing. The first session was a good starter point and he was almost instantly back on his lines which was great to see.

Jack prepping for the first race event this coming weekend was out with the more experienced group and showing he has the pace to keep up, driving well and like James enjoying the day we were looking faster but following his kart rebuild was missing his timing system (as Des left it at home!) so whilst we could see he was picking up the pace we couldn’t monitor the progression.

Harry was there to test his newly straightened kart and with Nigel building it up from nothing in the cold air was looking forward to getting round the Surrey circuit.

The Vipers were there to practise like Jack for this Saturday’s first Bambino event and with Henry testing his new engine the younger ones were looking quick overall – well done Henry and Jonathon.

With the day remaining dry the lads progressed on the whole well, James’s infectious sense of humour and Jack’s outgoing personality make them the centre of attention at most circuits and this possibly detracted from the days training but both lads made good ground during the early part of the day and until just after lunch, we were held back as well by a couple of red flags which with the low light levels concluded the day’s test by 4pm.

A good day for the lads generally but plenty of time to be found still, the lads enjoyed plenty of attention which probably cost us a bit of time but it stayed dry at least, James and Jack have plenty of promise and will be able to drive with the best in good time, 2016 is looking to be an exciting year.
