The Team had been waiting eagerly for this weekend, potentially being our first dry race weekend at any of the locations the lads were looking forward to getting the slicks out……

With the Aussie department (Simon and Will) holding on to the awning in the wind and rain, Henry and Sam building snowpersons at Rissy and myself and Matt freezing at Forest it possibly wasn’t the most accurate forecast that we had had this year but as always we dug in and setup for anything.

Wills test day was a straightforward day with a mix of weather and various changes creating an unfortunate lack of consistency for Will, he pushed on however and fought the weather to improve in several areas.

Pf race day saw Will continue to develop and he concluded the day with a 12th place and a happy mum who had joined them in order to celebrate Mother’s day with the boys, not the steadiest weekend but an improved finish position and potentially the last time out for Wills 2013 chassis which is for sale through the team now.

Rissy looked more like the Alps as Sam and Henry pitched up, luckily the sun got to work and despite having snowmen for marshals they cracked on with a wet track…all good! Unfortunately, an incident caused a long delay and with only four sessions the lads didn’t get a chance to really get dialled in, that said the accident was dealt with and we believe the driver involved is doing fine now so all good.

Sunday saw Henry on his own as Sam had a prior engagement with Mum! Henry cracked on with his best times to date and despite sitting with his dad and enjoying his sandwiches unaware that the third heat was taking place without them!!!! Managed to set a great 10th place and left unusually with a straight kart too – well done Henry

Forest for Ben and Jack saw the season opener and with Ben using his latest generation DK Junior max we were looking forward to seeing exactly where we were, jack on his second visit to Forest was developing and hoping for a reasonable finish to top off a good run of success in recent weeks. Also on site were Luke and Alex Preston, Alex is currently studying toward his ARKS but of course Luke is still prepping for a busy year ahead and everyone is optimistic for his 2016 season.

Despite being a little mixed with the weather the dry spell after lunch allowed all the lads to get into the ‘groove’ and whilst all the lads achieved Jack started appearing at the pointy end which was a great confidence boost for our 8 year old #84

Ben had been playing with setups and a discussion later in the day set us in the right direction, we had the pace but the kart had been a little twitchy causing some concern in the Huntley pit, Luke had been carrying out tests for our builder and was at last happy using the DEP and seemed to be running around where he wanted to against the regular soon to be defunct exhaust, Alex was beginning to make great progress and enjoying his track time.

Race day saw a busy day for the boys despite Jack probably not waking up as quickly as we had hoped! Ben proved immediately that he had the pace but losing a chain and being ‘assisted’ from the circuit in another heat hindered his trophy plans for today leaving him with a tough challenge for the final, a very credible 9th in heat 3 displayed his potential and whilst a disappointing 29th place in the final following a penalty left him deflated we all agreed that great progress had been made and the next round will see a determined Ben ready for silverware.

Luke and jack were operating at different ends of the Honda grid but despite a shaky start the teams #84 came alive in the final, with Luke off P2 from following a heat win and two top 4 finishes Jack was eager for his team mate to see he could cut it as well and pressed hard to get into the mix, Jack finished as top novice and Luke in second overall after he blocked a little too early in the final lap, both boys made their mark and Luke will soon be joined by his understudy toward the front.

After a little confusion surrounding Jacks novice cup not being handed to him till the end of the awards he joined a satisfied Luke for a drink and the deserved podium pic.

The teams return to the Hampshire circuit was a good one despite the usual oddities that seem to befall us but hopefully round two will see a more straightforward session.

The team takes this chance to wish Jordan Cane and Team Pelfrey all the best for St Petersburg this coming weekend, we look forward to seeing you guys soon.

Brgds
