Veneno Vipers
With CKC looking to be cold, wet and windy Noah’s first Viper outing was going to be a tricky one, never having driven in the wet he had a steeper learning curve at the historic Surrey circuit, luckily having Ben around as well as Sam and Jonathon for the track walk he had plenty of advice to guide him through the day.
The Vipers Bambino team have been progressing well, we have had the engines developed and are rapidly homing in on the front end driver who has been so dominant to date, the four youngsters are working hard to achieve great results and seeing Jonathon grab a second place today, Noah improving and keeping up in the final is testament to the constant effort the young drivers are putting in. The final saw a miserable session with driving cold rain but we at times were quickest and consistent with the lines, certainly stars for the future in both lads.
Junior Max and Honda
Ben Huntley is quickly becoming respected in the Junior grid as one of the ‘quick boys’, his attention to detail in the paddock underlines the intent that 2016 will be a successful one and he is not holding back, from the practice onward Ben maintained his position in the top 3 all day. With 2 second places and a third in the heats ben lined up for P2 in the final, we felt that if we could get in front the two battling for the overall Easter Championship may ‘shy’ away from a tussle, neither driver unable to afford to lose points it could work well, I also felt that Ben’s pace might let him drive away as the battle ensued.
Ben drove a great race, finishing 2nd he worked hard to race and win and also not to tangle with the Easter battle that began at the lights, all three provided a great race and Ben goes home knowing the top step is just a case of ‘when’.
Sam arrived at CKC fresh from an intensive 1-2-1 at Thruxton where he displayed new pace and commitment, this was evident in his clear focus, not having raced much at CKC we were not expecting a win but we felt we had a chance for 4th or 5th overall. An invigorated Sam drove solidly mid order with times reflecting his lack of track time at Blackbushe (CKC) working hard on a couple of areas we saw Sam drive one of his best rounds ever and was rewarded with a fifth place overall.
We were also pleased to see Jamie Burt winning the novice cup for the day, Jamie and his brother Daniel have and maintain a strong connection with the team and we train and assist where needed, the team are proud to have him wearing our colours especially as he is looking to be another strong CKC racer, form the whole team, support staff and myself – well done Jamie, a great effort and well earned.
