James @ CKC

For a change, the arrival of #JP77 "Seaweed" at CKC did cause the heavens to open and drench us all. However the track was cold, slippery and covered in leaves so the club had the brooms out trying to clear them before the start of the racing. A friendly gearbox volunteered to clear the rest of the leaves so the practice day could begin.

JP has shown a real step forward in his driving over the last couple of months and we were looking forward to building on that. After an early track walk with Ethan, we bolted on the inters and sent him out with a word of caution in his ear. The cold, wet track and leaves combined to make the opening sessions more about lines than outright speed, JP was following his instructions and moving through the pack well. After a good start to session 3, JP got offline in the top corner and onto the leaves, spininng out and losing his chain so the resuce trolley was called into action.

The next session saw the under 8's, novice cadets and experienced all on track together so we held JP back at the start along with the #51 Iame. This worked well, enabling JP to avoid the majority of the first lap carnage, but coming out of the pit corner, a recovering #33 caught his rear wheel and spun him out. A quick recovery and JP was back on it, driving like a demon and overtaking kart after kart. He had to resort to a couple of overtakes on the outside of the corners, but he made them cleanly and showed excellent pace.

Working with Ethan and video playback reviews, JP continued to improve throughout the day and did his best to keep hot on the tail of the more experienced Iame #51. He was one of the fastest Honda's on track today and made some very good overtakes, his best time just 0.5 off his dry times which was pretty impressive.

JP was enjoying his racing alongside #23 Jamie, both boys were racing well together, clean and tidy throughtout the day and enjoying themselves in the paddock between sessions.

An excellent day and some excellent driving - well done Seaweed!
